A kind holiday word from your favourite freelancing cat!
Hey there freelance friends! It's Halloween, and soon, Dia de los Muertos. That special time of year when many of my less intelligent friends allow their human companions to dress them up in sparkly costumes and do tricks for some treats.
Not I. During these strange celebrations, I am here with a friendly reminder:
Keep an eye on your black cat friends this week!
See that handsome black lad in the photo? That's my good friend Bill, and as you can see, he is a black cat extraordinaire. Bill is a very lucky cat, which might surprise the medievally-minded among you. Yes, a lucky black cat! Why is he so lucky? He has fantastic human family members and even lives with his very own kitty grandma. His home is beautiful and nobody discriminates against him, in any part of his life.
Unfortunately for other black kitties, this is not the case. Humans have some crazy, old-fashioned ideas about black cats being bad luck, or even demons - ridiculous, I know. Under that sleek black fur, Bill is just like me.
Here's what Bill and I are asking this Halloween and Dia de los Muertos: keep your black feline friends away from the party. Ground them. Keep them inside and distract them with indoor festivities like feather-chasing and tuna time. Don't give those feeble-minded humans out there a chance to be frightened and hostile. In fact, it might be best to keep your feline friends indoors no matter what their fur colour this week - even I have relegated myself to that special spot on the bed to binge-watch a season or two of Downton Abbey.
Black cat lovers unite! Keep our furry friends safe, and enjoy your Halloween!
